The first bout of snow is in the forecast.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Kenora and Dryden area.
Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says parts of northwestern Ontario will see snow, while other parts get rain.
“We have a couple of low pressure systems that are going to move through the are over the course of the coming days,” explains Coulson.
“A slight variation in the tracks of those systems could affect how much snow southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario could receive.”
Coulson adds that the storm track is still being monitored but it looks like the Kenora and Dryden be hit the hardest.
“2 to 5 centimeters with this first shot, with the second shot Thursday afternoon into Friday afternoon, the potential for an additional 5 to 10 centimeters,” explains Coulson.
“But just south of Kenora down through the Sioux Narrows area, temperatures may be just mild enough that they may see this as more of a mixed rain and snow event, or even rain event.”
Coulson says temperatures will be cold enough over the weekend that some areas should still see some snow on Hallowe’en.
