The cold days of winter are a good time to be offering a warm welcome. Raena Ducharme at the Fellowship Centre in Kenora talks about one of their upcoming events.
"Coldest Night of the Year is one of the largest fundraisers we have," she said. "Last year, we replaced a furnace, and we have furnace repairs."
Proceeds from the event are split with Jubilee Church, who used their portion of the proceeds to buy a new van last year.
"We serve meals three days a week. Other than that, we're packed," Ducharme added.
Services offered at the drop-in centre include art classes, card games and referrals to agencies in the community.
For those who are able to give, visitors to the Fellowship Centre are in need of warm mitts or gloves, as well as supplies for their coffee and tea nook (i.e. coffee, tea, coffee mate, sugar, sweetner).
