A coalition in the City of Kenora is raising an important issue.
"Women will describe themselves as part of a secret society," says Kristen Patrick. "Anyone who's ever read about the numbers and statistics -- miscarriage, infant loss, pregnancy loss -- are all very prevalent issues."
Two years ago, Queen's Park agreed to recognize the issue, by setting aside Oct. 15 as a date for talking about these topics.
"Personally, I've experienced two miscarriages, and that's actually what got me involved in this work," said Patrick. "Advocating on behalf of families is something that has helped me to heal."
Patrick would like to see more counselling and supports for women, who have experienced the loss of an infant or a pregnancy.
