Swimmers in Kenora could be back in the pool soon. After this morning's committee of the whole meeting at city hall, the manager responsible for the pool, Matt Boscariol, offered an update.
"Internally, we were advised by a contractor, who did install it, to kind of scrub away and continue to scrub while the pool was closed, the deck was closed, to kind of get the adhesive off. We have done that now," he said.
If testing goes well, Boscariol hopes swimmers can be back in the water this week, but he emphasized it would depend on the results of the tests.
In his comments after this morning's meeting, Boscariol also talked a bit more about the reasons for the closure.
"There were many near misses and slips a couple of weeks ago, which is why we reacted and definitely closed it. Past that threshold of enjoyment, right, so public safety really comes first and foremost for us," he said.
