City staff in Kenora are expected to work with contractors this week. They're working to resolve safety concerns at the rec centre pool.

Testing of the pool's new surface is expected to answer lingering questions about the slipperiness of the surface. Swimmers haven't been allowed to use the pool for more than a week now.

The Michael Smith Fitness Centre was closed for part of the weekend, as a crew worked on repairs to the pool deck. The pool had only just reopened last month, when it was closed again.

The city has been trying to get the deck resurfaced for a number of years. In the summer of 2016, the pool was closed for an extended period to allow for the work, but the contractor never showed up.
