Lake of the Woods District Hospital is able to provide naloxone. Bruce Siciliano explains how it can help.
"In the even of an overdose, it's actually a mortality prevention strategy. They're actually saving lives," he said.
The naloxone can be used as an antidote for fentanyl or carfentanyl, Siciliano explained. Naloxone is now available for those struggling with addictions in the Kenora area.
"They can instruct a family member that they're with that they have naloxone," Siciliano noted, as a means of helping to support those in recovery.
There have been a number of drug busts in recent weeks, as police try to curb the illegal distribution of illicit drugs.
