With the May long weekend coming up, residents who are planning events will be watching their forecasts closely.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson notes that this week will be cooler than seasonal average.
“We're looking at temperatures dropping below seasonal values, but we are expecting them to jump back up to the high-teens right before the holiday weekend,” he said.
Coulson notes that there could be some showers over the weekend.
“Could be some showers for at-least the first part of the weekend. There is a system that might kick off some showers in the Lake of the Woods area. Part of that system might be lingering around on Sunday and Monday, but there are some peaks of sunshine as well,” he said.
The system that may come through the region over the weekend is following the thunderstorm system that is expected to be in the area today.
