The race to be a Kenora city councillor has a new participant. Anthony Leek has announced his intent to run for council this fall.

Leek, a former Liberal representative, placed third in votes for the Kenora Rainy-River provincial election in 2014. He’s also the president of the Lake of the Woods Speedway, which is set to open next month, and the Student Services Coordinator for the Kenora campus of Seven Generations Education Institute.

Community Mobilization Officer with the Kenora OPP, Bob Bernie, is also running for a seat on city council. Current councillor Dan Reynard is running for Mayor.

Along with members of council, voters will also be electing trustees for local school boards. Frank Bastone is seeking another term for the Kenora Catholic District School Board. Cecile Marcino is running for another term with the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.

Municipal voters go to the polls October 22 across the province.
