Local firefighters are getting ready for the winter months.
McKenzie Clearwater firefighters practised a variety of ice water rescue techniques throughout the weekend. The techniques took place on the Lake of the Woods, both in and out of the water.
The fire service wanted to remind residents that it’s a dangerous time of the year to be out on the ice. They note that the lakes are just freezing up now, and the ice is not yet ready on most lakes in the area.
They took time to remind the public to take care when near newly-formed ice and open water.
