After years of trying to arrange a land swap with the province, the City of Kenora is looking to sell Town Island.

"The city is going to actively pursue an RFP (Request for Proposals) on that island and the revenue generated will go back into the pursuit of development and land projects," said acting mayor Rory McMillan following last week's council meeting.

He recalled how area residents were concerned about the future of the island, and McMillan expected to hear from some of them again, as the land's future is again up for debate.

The city is open to potential buyers, who may want to conserve land in the area, the acting mayor underlined.
