The Kenora U18 AAA Thistles (1-20-1) will look to make up some ground in the standings tonight as they travel west to Winnipeg to take on the Thrashers (13-8-1).
This will be the third meeting of the season between these two clubs with the Thrashers taking the first two by scores of 6-5, and 9-2.
Kenora is coming off a weekend that saw them drop both games to the Southwest Cougars (16-8-0) 2-1, and 5-2.
Head coach Scott Parsons will be leaning on his team to come out firing on all cylinders tonight.
“I think just putting together a full 60 minutes of a tight defensive game, and taking advantage of our opportunities when we get them is probably going to be the gameplan here tonight,” said Parsons.
Throughout the first half of the season, the Thistles have struggled with their start as they have been outscored 43-12 in the first period. Parsons wants his team tonight to start strong and continue that throughout the game.
“I expect them to be working hard right off the bat. Getting in on the forecheck, causing turnovers, and then getting back on the offensive side of the puck in the offensive zone,” added Parsons.
Coming into tonight’s affair Kenora is currently in last place and looking to scoop up some points before heading in the Christmas break.
A win tonight would put Kenora 15 points back of the final playoff spot, which is being held by the Pembina Valley Hawks (9-12-2).
After tonight the Thistles will get a couple of days off before entertaining the Interlake Lighting (5-17-1) for a couple of games this weekend at the Kenora Rec Centre.
Game action tonight will start at 8:00 p.m. and can be live streamed on HockeyTV.
