The Ministry of Health is reviewing a proposal for 76 more long term care beds at the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre.

The province is still reviewing calls for more long term beds in Sioux Lookout. Premier Kathleen Wynne said earlier this week the request was still under review.

David Jensen is a spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care, and he says the Meno-ya-win Health Centre’s pre-capital submission is still under review. Jensen added they're also working with the Local Health Integration Network on the submission, and the ministry will provide comments to the centre upon completion of the review.

There are currently 20 long-term care beds at the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre, and the community's calling for the remaining 76 to be added. The original proposal for the health centre called for a total of 96.
