Three new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the region, as the active case count ticks up.

All three cases are in the Dryden/Red Lake region.

This brings the active case count to 17 in the health unit's catchment area.

Nine cases are in the Kenora region, five cases are in the Dryden/Red Lake region, two cases are in the Rainy River region and one case is in the Sioux Lookout region.

Provincewide, 927 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Friday.

Follow up with the person involved and their contacts have started according to protocol. Anyone who is identified as a contact for this case will be contacted directly.

NWHU recommends that everyone, including those who have been vaccinated, assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face.
