Flooding on Essex Road during its peak earlier this summer.

More repairs are coming to Essex Road, causing even more delays for area residents this summer.

The City of Kenora says beginning today and ending by September 16, Moncrief Construction will be performing ditch line and gravel surface remediation work between the East Mellick Road intersection to 0.5 kilometres south of the Hooterville Trail intersection. Traffic control will be in place.

The City of Kenora originally closed Essex Road due to flooding concerns on May 9, after this spring’s nearly record-breaking water levels – which caused the evacuation of hundreds of residents north of the by-pass.

Roads crews then worked to install barricades across Essex Road at both ends of the Hooterville Trail, with initial gravel repairs being completed by June 14 – leading to the reopening of the roadway.
