Local school boards to get more money

School boards in the area will be getting more money from the province this year.

Grants for Student needs have been released by the Ministry of Education.

Increases range from a low of 0.3 percent to a high of 4.6 percent.

For the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board, it will be getting 2.4 percent more, or about $87 million.

Enrolment is predicted to go up slightly next school year at 4,272 students, 17 more than this year.

The Kenora Catholic District School Board is getting three percent more, or $ 26.4 million.

Enrolment is expected to drop slightly to 1,192, 21 less than this past year.

Other school board in the region:

Northwest Catholic School Board- $27.1 million (4.6 percent increase) Student enrolment up 8 to 1,200.

Rainy River District School Board- $46,591,409 (2 percent increase) Student enrolment down 22 to 1,942

Lakehead District School Board- $130.4 million (2.2 percent increase) student enrolment up 7 to 8,732

Thunder Bay Catholic School Board- $107.6 million (0.3 percent increase) Student enrolment 192 to 6.649
