A Lac Seul woman has been charged following a letter scam from late September.  

In late September 2021, the Lac Seul Police Service (LSPS) received a letter from a female claiming to be doing a research project for the University of Toronto Dept. Of Biochemistry.  

An investigation ensued between LSPS and the University of Toronto Campus Police, the letter was deemed fabricated and not authentic.  

On October 19, 2021, a 41-year-old Female from Lac Seul First Nation was arrested & charged with the following:  

1. Make Forged Document- 367 of the Criminal Code  

2. Use Forged Document- 368(1)(a) of the Criminal Code 

The accused was released from custody and will appear in Lac Seul Nation Court on November 24, 2021.  

The LSPS are reminding everyone to be aware of fraudulent activity and report suspicious activity to your local Police.
