By Ryan Forbes Dec 28, 2022 | 2:05 PM

At least five businesses have been the subject of mischief or harassment this month in Kenora’s downtown core.

Kenora City Councillors and the city’s Senior Leadership Team are having an emergency meeting Thursday to discuss the variety of incidents seen in Kenora’s downtown core this month.

The meeting begins at 11 a.m. at City Hall and will move into a Closed Session – meaning parts of the meeting will not be made available to the public.

You can find the Livestream HERE.

Throughout the month, incidents have included an employee at the Red Apple being the victim of an assault on December 10 and a 23-year-old was arrested.

The owner of Island Girl, Michelle Livingston, was also assaulted on December 23 and a 29-year-old has been taken into custody.

Elsewhere, the Spirit Oak Tree Company warned of harassment at their storefront on December 27. Windows were also reportedly smashed at the Bannister Centre and the deck of Prelude Travel has been damaged.

We have reached out to Mayor Andrew Poirier, the Kenora OPP’s Detachment Commander Jeff Duggan and the Kenora District Services Board’s Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall for their comments on the ongoing situation, as well as multiple affected business owners.
