Staff with the Kenora Catholic District School Board have a new way to promote school events, mental health supports and more – through their new smartphone app.

Kenora Catholic says the free app is a tool for parents, guardians and students to keep track of everything going on in their school, with an events calendar, additional resources for mental health and wellbeing, bussing alerts and much more.

“We’re very excited to be launching our brand-new app,” says Executive Assistant to the Director of Education for the KCDSB, Trina Henley – who notes the app’s been in development for a couple of years now.

“It has been custom designed to think about what students need to stay connected, what families need to know about what’s happening in their school, and we believe it’s going to be an amazing tool and a resource. There’s so much in there.”

Community Relations Lead, Grace Dunford, explains that the app has been tested by a few local families and students ahead of the launch, who have helped to fine-tune the experience for users.

“They absolutely loved the calendar. That is really a huge part of why we decided to launch this app for families. It’s a phenomenal resource for families. All of the school’s events will be on the calendar and there’s so much information you can get in there. And you can add it to your phone’s personal calendar.”

Dunford notes that the Saints’ sports calendars will also be included in the app, with practice times, game times, and much more to help families coordinate their schedules.

You can find the app by opening your phone’s app store and searching for the Kenora Catholic District School Board. You will then be asked which schools you’d like to follow and can readjust them at any time.

The KCDSB stresses that the app will not replace regular communication methods such as notes, emails or web calendars. You can find more on the app HERE.
