Michelle and Randy from Kenora’s A&W are inviting you down today for a Teen Burger!

Kenora’s A&W is inviting you out for a Teen Burger today to help support Canadians living with MS.

Today is the 14th annual Burgers to Beat MS Day where $2 from every Teen Burger will support Canadians with MS, and Kenora’s A&W is once again trying to become the top fundraising restaurant in the country.

Kenora’s A&W raised over $37,000 in 2021, and was in the top 5 restaurants for the most donations across Canada between 2015 and 2020.

Owner Randy Nickle says this year, there will be even more ways to bring in some funds.

“We have a clear-out of movies, DVDs and Blu-Rays and we’re selling those for $2 each or a donation of greater than $2. We also have a Pampered Chef air-fryer and we have a draw for that. We have balloon pops where every balloon has a prize. We have two-litre bottles of Root Beer. And we have a limited edition Kenora A&W t-shirt!”

On average, 12 Canadians are diagnosed with MS every day. But since 2008, A&W has helped raise over $17 million to support Canadians living with MS.

“The success in the past has been because of the generosity of people in the community. My staff pull out all the stops as well to get as many people through here. People rounding up at the till, making donations, and they all participate. People have been very, very generous.”

The Mayo Clinic says Multiple Sclerosis is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord. With MS, the immune system attacks the protective sheath that covers nerve fibres and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage or deterioration of the nerves.
