The long-term future of Kenora's emergency shelter remains uncertain.

City councillors are looking at the creation of a committee, in order to look at new partners. who might be interested in operating the facility. The shelter had served notice earlier this year, that it would have trouble keeping the overnight shelter operation open this summer.

Board members for the shelter have been working withe the district services board, in order to meet short-term shortfalls. However, there are some long-term issues related to funding for staff at the 24-hour operation, as well as extensive repairs needed for the roof and structure.
