Kenora's Jeff "Gussy" Gustafson is into day three of the 2021 Academy Sports & Outdoors Bassmaster Classic in Lake Ray Roberts, Fort Worth, Texas, after a huge comeback.
Gustafson came out of day two with an impressive weigh-in of a five-fish limit totaling 13.5, which was needed after a tough day one. Friday, Gustafson reeled in four totaling 8.8.
"It wasn’t the day I wanted to have. Kinda disappointing but it’s still an awesome day when you get to walk across that Bassmaster Classic stage! Enjoying every minute this week, we’ve got a comeback brewing up tomorrow," Gustafson said Friday on his Facebook page.
After two days, he sits at 19th place with a total of 21.13 , which qualifies him for today as only the top 25 anglers of the tournament move on after day two.
Sitting atop the leaderboard is Hank Cherry Jr. of North Carolina, who enters day three with 37.14.
This is Gustafson's second Classic tournament. He finished 31st in the 2020 Bassmaster Classic, earning himself $10.000.
The top angler for the 2021 tournament will take home $300,000.
Weigh-ins will take place this afternoon and you can watch them live HERE.
