It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather Barry (Billy) William Cameron on May 19, 2023.
Billy passed away peacefully at his residence at Pinecrest Home for the Aged with his loving children and family by his side.
Billy was born at the old St. Joseph hospital in Kenora on April 6,1960. He was raised in Minaki Ont. and then moved to his home community of Wabaseemoong.
Billy was always known for his warm heart and fun-loving spirit. Always was joy to be around with and he was too happy to entertain.
Billy loved the outdoors and would spend hours fishing each year with his best friends. He enjoyed a good cook out on the land and spending time with his family and friends. He always had funny stories. Billy’s pride and joy were always and foremost was his children.
He attended a variety of ceremonies, participated in cultural land base activities such as; wild rice picking, blueberry picking, canoeing, shelter making and medicine picking.
He was an incredibly hard worker that was dedicated to the organizations he worked i.e.: C.P.Rail, OPP Special Constable, Crisis Intervention, First Response, Heavy Machinery, Public works and Social Services. He was also a Fishing Guide, Firefighter and Conservation Officer, he enjoyed building houses and had his own Gas Bar.
He had many hobbies such as: cooking, fixing small and large motors, he also enjoyed playing cards, Board Games, Poker, Cribbage, Gin, Texas Hold’em, pool tournaments, movies nights, dice games, sticks and he enjoyed play baseball with children, nieces, nephews, siblings, other family members and friends.
Billy was predeceased by his mother, Mary Anne (Cameron) Wesley, his brother Roger William Cameron, his nephews Larry Cameron, Tyler Cameron and grandson Raymond Joshua Wesley. Billy leaves to mourn is his Father Jim Kelly, Aunt Mary Kelly, Uncles: Mike Kelly, Jim, Richard, Joe, David.
To miss him and to cherish his memory are his children: Bonnie (Rene), Bruce, Barrie (Una), Cody (Ashley), Troy Cameron-Muckle and Dalton Muckle who Billy has taken in as his own. Grandchildren: Kyle, Jaxson, Jakob, D’Angelo, Reese, Animkii, Belle, Odemin, Jordan, James, Jesse, Jace.
His siblings: Donna Cool (Joe), Grace Redsky, James Cameron, Dorothy Cameron (Arnie), Sheila Copenace (Howard), Linda Cameron (Harvey), Ernie Cameron (Kelly), Sherry Cameron, Geraldine Cameron, Anna Cameron, Cathy Cameron (Garnet), Adopted brother Adolphus (Cindy).
Nephews and nieces; Trish, Sean, Kim, Michael, Crystal, Neil, Starla, Macy, Marty, Janna, Wabanoonkwe, Miigwaans, Jaret, Micheal, Reno, Nigel, Samantha, Clayton, Stacy, Roxanne, Jason, Belinda, Travis, Hayden, Arianne, Terry, Roxanne, Leslie, Joel, Ellam, Kendra, Ronan, Cheyenne and Kirk.

He will be sadly missed by his best friends; Harvey Hunter, Barney McDonald, James McDonald, Ronnie P McDonald, Roger McDonald, Guy McDonald, Garnet Ignace, John Paul Jamieson, Vincent Fisher and John Paishk.
The family would like to thank LWDH, Paramedics, Wabaseemoong Independent Nation, Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority, other First Nations, family and friends that contributed to the support the Family. Our special thanks to the Pinecrest nurses and staff of Unit 4, Billy was loved. Much appreciated ❤️
A wake service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023., at the Niisaachewan (Dalles) Anishinaabe Nation Community Center beginning at 3:00pm. A Traditional Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2023 starting at 10:00am with a burial to follow at the Kenora the Lake of the Cemetery.
