Everyone is safe at Open Roads school in Dryden after a fire incident this morning.

The Dryden Fire Service was called at 11 in the morning after a fire alarm activated. Fast action was taken by the staff and students in evacuating the building.

Staff found the fire alarm source to be coming from a washroom refuse container that was smoldering. Staff applied water and then met the Fire Service on arrival.

Smoke was minimal and the refuse container was moved outside and all occupants were returned to the school within 20 minutes.

The Dryden Police and Fire Service are investigating the cause of this fire incident.
