2021 was the year of the giant boulder hitting the highway near Kenora.
Highway 17A was closed for about six hours on March 4 after a gigantic boulder slid onto the highway, blocking both lanes of traffic.
The 400 cubic metre rock, weighing over 880,000 pounds, was dislodged from a nearby rockcut as crews worked to remove rock in the area during blasting operations, about four kilometres west of the Minaki Highway.
No injuries were reported. The OPP remained on scene to provide traffic control throughout the day.
